Although I was not able to attend the Thirsty 07 Conference...the word is out about it.....I was so moved in my heart by some of the posts...I had to share them here:
A Long Time Friend
Sorry I haven't posted yet this week. I've been in Atlanta, GA at a Passion Conference for college leaders, pastors and student leaders. The conference is Thirsty. I'm still there. We have one more session today and then a long drive in a 15 passenger van back home.
I've been pretty excited about coming, mostly because of who I knew I would hear from; Francis Chan, Louie Giglio, Andy Stanley, Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, David Crowder, and Charlie Hall. They've all been really good. But I wasn't expecting what I received last night. I had the most incredible conversation with a long-time friend.
I guess, to be honest, I've "communicated" with him several times over the years, but this is the first real conversation we've had in a while. Intimacy. I was talking. He was talking. I was listening. He was genuinely listening to me. It was good. I was moved to tears. I felt honored that he took the time. He felt the same. I even asked if we could do this more often. He said he would love to.
His name is Jesus. I have never felt closer to him than I do today. It was the most incredible moment of my life and I can't wait to talk with him again.
John 10:3-4 - "... The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice."

Thirsty Conferene 07: Main Session #4
Tonight was simply amazing. Probably the best worship I've experienced....E V E R. The goal was simple....worship the Creator and come to his table.
The stage was decorated with candles and we were asked to enter in silence. There was a lone light shining down on a table with both bread and wine. Louie Giglio came out and spoke for a moment about how when he was at Virgina Tech recently speaking at a service after the tragedy, 400 people stood on a hill and shouted the name of the Lord at the top of their lungs and it was deafening! As he did so, Chris Tomlin's band broke out into Let God Arise and it was the loudest shout I've ever heard in worship. He sang....we sang...we worshiped.
Louie came out later and offered up the bread and the wine and we took communion together. It was so cool to see Charlie Hall, David Crowder, Francis Chan, Matt Redman, Andy Stanley, Shelley Giglio and others serving communion to us. After communion, Chris broke out into Mighty to Save by Hillsong and I promise, in all my years, I've never heard such a roar. I've stood in Neyland Stadium with 107,000 people cheering....there was 1300 of us and it was louder! To be honest, my throat is killing me now, but it was worth it.
Im poured out. I laid it all out tonight and it was great seeing my team do the same...even a few that don't normally express themselves in worship did so tonight. Nice. I can't wait to do it one more time with these people tomorrow!

Thanks for the blog love! Thirsty was amazing and i gotta say that it was one of the best "conferences" i had ever been too...even better than last year's conference. They call it a conference, but I'll call it refueling.
